Persians are the number one breed in popularity.
They have short, heavily boned legs to support broad
short bodies. They are not given to high jumping and
climbing. Persians are responsive and affectionate
and are a source of joy and delight to their owners.
Their long flowing coats require an indoor protected
environment. Proper maintenance requires a daily
combing with a metal comb to eliminate tangles. A
Persian can live 15-20 years.
The Himalayan is one of the most popular of all
types of Persians. Himalayans were developed by
breeding Persians to Siamese to combine the color
with Persian type. They all have blue eyes and are
called pointed.
Napoleons are a new breed under the Persian group
that combine the munchkin dwarf gene with the
Persian type. This breed brings forth the sweet
traits of both breeds making an ideal kitten-like
cat that retains adorable features into adulthood.
Being smaller it is ideal for children and those
seeking a smaller cat. Napoleons come in two types;
a standard is the short legged version and the
nonstandard is the long legged version. |
